Physical Hunger V Emotional Hunger

Picture
You have to fully comprehend the idea that food is fuel.  Sure, everyone understands this on a basic level,  but do you really understand and accept what this means?  Food as fuel means that food is not pleasure, comfort or distraction.  It's sole purpose is to make your body function as best as it possibly can, and junk food WILL NOT do this.  So next time you pick up something to eat, no matter what it is, ask yourself ''what is this doing for my body?'' and be honest wth yourself.  You'll suddenly start seeing food differently.

Physical Hunger
  • Tends to come on gradually and can be proponed
  • Can be satisfied with any number of foods
  • Once full you're likely to stop eating
  • Doesnt cause feelings of guilt
Emotional Hunger
  • Feels sudden and urgent
  • Causes very specific cravings (ex. pizza, chocolate, ice cream...)
  • You tend to eat more than you normally would
  • Can cause guilt afterwards
